Rome Private Driving Tours
Fascinating sightseeing tour of Rome and Vatican City which starts from the pier of your cruise ship: history, art, architecture, life-style, food.
Absolutely private and personalized fascinating itinerary, which duration lasts approximately ten hours, performed all the year round including major Italian holidays. Tours are tailored by our specialists for small groups (one to 20 people at a time). You will hit the essential spots of the City of Rome and in the Vatican City you will visit the magnificent Sistine Chapel and the imposing St. Peter's Basilica. Should you have a larger group, including corporate and incentive groups, or you want to modify the tour, we can make special personalized arrangements according to your requirements.
Tour details You'll be met in Civitavecchia Port at the pier of your cruise ship around 8:30 am, by your driver who will transfer you to Rome, to the entrance of Vatican Museums, where you will be met by your personal licensed guide. Your guide will buy entrance tickets for you and then you will follow visiting, at an easy pace, the Vatican Museums, seeing the Gallery of Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Geographical Maps, and the spellbinding Sistine Chapel. You will leave the Museums to visit the St. Peter's Basilica, where are artistic masterpieces like La Pietà sculptured by Michelangelo and the gilded bronze baldachin by Bernini. Leaving the church you will cross the monumental baroque-styled St. Peter's Square, surrounded by the two colonnades, another masterpiece by Bernini. After these visits it will be time for lunch and you will have the opportunity to eat in a good restaurant or in a self-service according to your wishes. Seeing around the St. Angel Castle we will cross the Tiber River reaching the left bank, where ancient Rome was settled, and you will visit the monumental and historical beating heart of the 'Eternal City'. You will proceed to the Circus Maximus, the largest racing track ever built, and the Colosseum. Here a stop will be given to astonish at the vast building, where Romans were entertained by gladiator's bloody fights and hunts of wild animals. Crossing Piazza Venezia (Rome center) we will see the exaggeratedly enormous white monument called Altar to the Fatherland, but commonly called the 'Wedding Cake' for its form. Built from 1885 to 1925 to commemorate Italian Independence and Unity, achieved by King Victor Emmanuel II in 1870. You will see the remains of the Roman Forum, main commercial, religious and political center of ancient Rome and continue to the on-foot visit of the renowned Spanish Square and to the enchanting Trevi Fountain to toss your coin to assure your return to Rome. Our promenade will proceed to the Pantheon, a 2nd century A.D. temple, best preserved architectural work of ancient times. Here are the tombs of the great painter Raphael and the first two Italian Kings. Then you walk to the baroque astounding Navona Square to appreciate one of the most beautiful baroque fountains of Rome: the Four Rivers Fountain designed again by Bernini. At the end of your wonderful experience in the Eternal City, your guide will leave you, and your driver will drive you back to your cruise ship at Civitavecchia Port, or, if your overnight will be in Rome, to your hotel
