Itinerary description See Quirinal Hill, one the seven hills with the monumental fountain of the Dioscuri, pair of gigantic Roman marble "Horse Tamers" representing Castor and Pollux, found in the Thermae Constantinianae (public baths) built by Emperor Constantine on this hill in the IV c. Visit Quirinal Palace (Pope's summer residence 16th c. to 1870, then Royal palace and today official residence and offices of the Head of State, the President of the Italian Republic). In front of it lies Palazzo della Consulta which hosts the Constitutional Court, supreme Italian Magistracy Court. Enter the Quirinal Palace to visit the magnificent apartments where Italian Kings lived since 1870 to 1946, apartments that were appositely arranged, decorated and furnished for each visit of foreign monarchs or equivalent authorities. Several collections are in this Palazzo, among which tapestries, paintings, statues, watches, furniture, porcelains. See the Corazzieri , presidential guards in their high uniforms. Visit the baroque Church of S. Andrea al Quirinale, one of most elegant samples of baroque architecture in Rome, with its oval plan and its splendid interiors of marbles, stuccoes, gilt decorations. architecture masterpiece of Bernini. See the Four Fountains crossing (Quattro Fontane) and Borromini's baroque Church of San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane, the first work of this architect and the last one: the façade was completed after his death. See Barberini Square with the Triton and the Bees fountains, designed by Bernini. See Trinità dei Monti Square (top of Spanish Steps). Go down the Spanish Steps. See the renowned Spanish Square and the Barcaccia fountain, stroll through Via dei Condotti, most renowned shopping street in Rome.
